[it's sort of funny, Zelda thinks, as she stands outside the wisdom goddess's chambers. she'd actually been a goddess herself in a past life—though she'd given up her all-powerful presence to banish the evil from her land, being reborn a mortal in the process. now that the darkness threatening her land and her people has been sealed away for good (or as long as time could tell), she's been promoted to her divine duty yet again. while she does ruminate on the fact that she can't continue her simple life, she... actually feels rather comfortable with this new chapter in her story. was it fate that had brought her here? had she been meant to come back full circle all this time?
...perhaps now isn't exactly the right time to dwell on things like that. raising a hand, she knocks on the door in front of her.]

[they may all be gods and goddesses now, but she figures she should still show some respect toward her fellow deities. she doesn't want to overstep any boundaries so early on in her tenure, after all.]
[The door clicks open a bit after the words spoken by the Goddess of Wisdom. Once Zelda enters, she'll find Athena in the main room standing over a large table with a map laid out across it. Upon the map are small figurines of soldiers and creatures of varying colors, though predominantly grey or red. She moves one soldier figurine to a different spot before looking up and settling her gaze on the godling that has sought her out.]
Welcome Zelda Tritogeneia. How may I be of assistance?
[There was a bit of a smile and amusement in the set of her lips and glimmer of her eyes, as if she was enjoying a harmless joke.]
[she smiles warmly as she's let in, bowing her head in slight reverence as she enters the room.]
I was just wondering if you were available for a casual conversation; I'm still trying to get used to... well, everything.
[she waves her hand in reference to the rest of the room—particularly, the map, which catches her eye immediately as she gives everything a once over. she tilts her head with curiosity as she turns her attention back to Athena.]
[Athena looked down at the map, one of the red figurines moving to a different spot seemingly on its own. She picks up a large grey-colored creature and moves it to that same spot before turning away from the map.]
You are interrupting nothing of importance - just war games with my brother. I indulge him every week or so and that [a gesture to the monster] will keep him busy for a while.
[though she tries her best to mask her disinclination toward the other goddess's activity, she can't help but raise an eyebrow. even in her past life, she's never been one for violence, except when absolutely necessary. the way Athena refers to it so nonchalantly surprises her a little, too.]
Contests of strategy and the mind. Aries and I disagree a lot on how one should handle conflict. This is merely one way for him to keep from stirring up too much unnecessary conflict among the mortals.
[And to remind him that she's better than him, but Athena isn't going to tell Zelda that.]
[she's still a little wary, but the explanation seems to have contented her; fair enough, to her. she needs to start thinking about things differently, after all. with a small shake of her head, she drives the matter out of her mind for now.]
I guess there are still a lot of things I'm going to have to get used to in regards to being a goddess. It's a learning experience.
[she's not surprised at all at how Athena knows; she figures she and the others in charge are all aware of the backgrounds of everyone they had brought here. how else would they have chosen all these individuals?]
...It's a little strange. Some things do feel familiar, and I can take a little solace in that; seeing all my followers and knowing what sorts of things I represent to them didn't faze me at all, for example. But I think I've lost a little understanding of what it's like to be a goddess in my mortal life, too.
It is a practical way of putting it. All you need to do is just pick the reins up again and it will all come back to you. We never really forget things; all that is required is a spark for recollection.
