Mortals follow gods because they believe in what they stand for, wish their guidance in life and the standards to which the ascribe themselves. Don't get me wrong-- people will believe what they want to believe, regardless of whether or not it's the right thing to believe in. It's all a matter of choosing what they want.

But as for their problems, well. I like to be hands-off with someone's decision-making process, you know? I'm not a fan of telling people how they're supposed to be saved.

Have you ever seen 'Princess Mononoke'? Maybe that's a bad example, but the Forest Spirit doesn't heal the accursed just because they come to it. It just gives the accursed a reason to try to be healed, and things work out in the end. Does that make sense?
